Five Shimane Prefecture Companies Participated in a Joint Exhibit, More Than 100 Inquiries Received
Medical Fair Thailand 2023

The Shimane Industrial Promotion Foundation and Shimane Brand Promotion Division of the Shimane Prefectural Government Overseas Expansion Support Office sponsored a Shimane Prefecture booth at Medical Fair Thailand 2023, a healthcare exhibition held in Bangkok, Thailand from September 13 to 15, 2023. Five companies from the prefecture exhibited their products and services to healthcare industry professionals in the Thai and ASEAN markets.
Situated near the entrance of the large venue, the popular Shimane Prefecture booth featured an eye-catching design incorporating the Shimanekko (Shimane tourism promotion character). The five participating companies received a total of 113 requests for business meetings both large and small.
Held in Bangkok every two years since 2003, Medical Fair Thailand is one of the largest medical and healthcare exhibitions in ASEAN. Some 800 companies and organizations from 40 countries exhibited at the 10th edition of the event in 2023. More than 10,000 visitors representing 74 countries attended the fair. In addition to exhibits from the five companies from Shimane Prefecture, the booth also displayed pamphlets and promotional materials from 10 other Shimane-based companies.

The day before the exhibition, representatives from the exhibiting companies toured two hospitals in Bangkok.
The Thai government has long been committed to medical tourism and maintains a high standard of medical care. At the same time, the country is experiencing a declining birthrate and aging population, factors leading to expected growth in the elderly care market.
